Teammate Spotlight: Meet Brandon!

Brandon is a Respiratory Therapist who spends his working hours helping patients in Southeastern, TN. He's been working in the healthcare field for 14 years and with Apria for 2 years now. Brandon took some time to tell us about his time at Apria and what his life is like outside of work:

Why did you join Apria and what makes you stay?

I came to Apria when I moved with my family to Tennessee. I was looking for something in healthcare that wasn't a hospital and Apria fit that. What drew me is the idea of working with patients outside of a hospital; instead of helping them get well in the moment so they can go home, rather, being part of their future care and helping them stay well so they can remain home.

The chance to continue care with these patients and their families is a big reason why I stay at Apria. I’ve even ran into a few patients just around town and it’s always a good experience. The other thing that makes me stay are the people who I work with. We have something good in Chattanooga from the top down and I really do truly enjoy those I work with.

Why are you proud to work at Apria?

I’m proud to work for Apria because of the standard of care we strive to achieve. As a team we are always striving for growth and change in the right direction to make the patient care experience even better.

How would you describe your job to someone outside of Apria?

When I'm asked this question I tell people that I help those with respiratory or breathing issues, but instead of it being in a hospital, I help them in their homes or sometimes they come in to the Apria office. I manage noninvasive and invasive ventilation patients with a range of conditions like obstructive sleep apnea, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or obesity hypoventilation syndrome and I help them understand how their treatment plan will benefit them now and moving forward.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I have 2 teenagers who are competitive horse riders across multiple disciplines. My wife and I also started our own clothing company for the equestrian community as a side project. Those two things alone keep us pretty busy! But when I do find free time that’s not spent with my wife and kids or family and friends, I do enjoy golfing and going to the range.
